On May 2nd I noticed a Dove hanging around our front porch. Over the course of the next couple days I saw it more and more. A few days later I discovered a nest in a hanging plant on the porch. Then on the 9th there was a dove in the nest and it seemed to never leave. I felt bad for, wondering how long it could go without food, and then found this out. Unlike most birds, Doves tend to incubate their eggs continually. Since the male and female look alike, it appears the same bird is incubating the eggs the whole time but actually, the male does a daytime shift and the female does the night shift.
On May 30 around noon we noticed dove and babies were gone. Not sure what happened. I had notice a hawk a couple times in the area but never saw it near the nest.
